Chamber In Action at the Texas Home & Garden Show
Chamber staff attended the 25th Annual Texas Home & Garden Show, Feb. 11-13 at the Reliant Center, in Houston to showcase and hand out promotional ad pieces directly re-lated to Aransas Pass as the Travel Destination that it is. This event was well attended and hosted over 100,000 visitors and consumers that plan vacation and weekend get-aways.

The Aransas Pass Chamber of Commerce Partner's in Converge on the Capitol!
The Aransas Pass Chamber of Commerce along with surrounding tourism partners made up a group of 47 that rode the Daisy Tours bus charter to Austin and met with 850 other tourism industry professional partners from across the region to participate in the Converge on the Capitol in Austin. The Corpus Christi area had the largest group, a total of 71 participating. Specific issues addressed were those directly related to expected budget cuts to tourism. Top priority issue to visit the House Senators and State Representatives was support and restore the full funding for Tourism Promotion in Bill (HB1/SB1). Texas is ranked the 3rd most popular leisure destination in the Country and employees a half million people. This trip was an excellent opportunity to be a powerful advocate on behalf tourism industry.

Leadership Aransas Pass Class I met for Session 6 "Media and Public Speaking". Tips for Public Speaking, Media Interviews and Making Presentations was presented by Mr. Jim Bounds, Director of Business Development, Security Services Federal Credit Union, along with Media and the Radio by Advertising Executive, Kate Sache, Badlands Radio 94.7FM and the Newspaper Industry and Tips on Submitting a Story by Brenda Burr, Editor of the Aransas Pass Progress and Amanda Flores, Classified Ad Representative also of the Progress. The Bakery Cafe provided lunch for the group. The mission for Leadership Aransas Pass is to develop individuals of diverse backgrounds and strengths into a cohesive group of leaders committed to positively shape the future of Aransas Pass. State Representative, Todd Hunter was the Keynote Speaker at the February Luncheon to keep the members of the Chamber and the Aransas Pass Community informed of the issues begin heard by the House of Representatives during the current the legislative session at the State Capital.
